The 2002 U.S. Hot Rod THUNDER NATIONALS!
On Friday Febuary 22nd the basketball team and I headed over to Lansing, Michigan. Michigan's capital, Lansing was going to hold some hot action the whole weekend, The Basketball tournament was the ending of our 3 month UNDEFEATED season! We arrived that friday at about 4 in the afternoon. We had our first game at 5. We won that game as expected. We quickly packed up our stuff and headed to the Residents Inn(Marriot). It was pretty cool having about 14 cars heading in the same direction, but the S.S. Peter and Paul Boy's 7th and 8th Basketball is one of the biggest teams in our area-Ionia. We headed to the hotel in our Escalade with a few of my friends listening to Reckless Abandon by Blink 182 and looking at the lights on some of the buildings and many other cars. It was truly one of the coolest parts of the weekend. The 7th and 8th boy's basketball team checked into the hotel and totally took-over the place. Their were about 20 room's taken up by the players and their parents. I had happened to bring my pictures from the previous year, 2001. One of my dearest friends, Evan was looking at the pictures and was really impressed with my work. Evan's dad builds hot rods so we showed the pictures to him, he really is into monster trucks as well. We took-over the lounge(infront of where you check in) with all of our family's and friends. We stayed up talking and playing a PS2 till 2 in the morning. The next morning we all woke up and ate breakfast and checked-out. We headed back to the Our Savior Lansing school and won the next game, went to the mall and won another game, then it was time. Time for what I was looking forward to the most Saturday night, THE U.S. HOT ROD THUNDER NATIONALS! In the Jack Breslen Center! |
